The Ben Shear Golf Junior Golf Academy, unlike the majority of junior golf programs, provides a comprehensive scientific evaluation of each player. This detailed screening process and assessment uncovers the underlying physical causes to technical swing faults. By completing a proprietary, thorough and golf-specific review, and gaining a foundation of precise knowledge about each player’s abilities, Ben Shear Golf can then create the optimal, individualized off-season program. The player’s customized fitness plan will provide an effective roadmap for increased strength, mobility, stability, balance, sequencing, movement patterning, and more, to ensure greater success once in-season play commences. There is nothing in the Northeast that even comes close to what the Ben Shear Golf Premier Junior academy offers talented and focused junior golfers.

Jake Meyer, Winner of the 94th NJSGA Junior Championship

Jake Mayer
The Athletic Edge winter program has helped me so much because it not only allows you to maintain your game, but advance it tremendously with the added strength. While the Trackman onsite provides significant feedback as you work on your swing during the winter, the most significant aspect of the program is the massive putting green. Putting activities and specific drills will help players of all levels improve their short game. One thing that goes unnoticed in the junior golf world is physical fitness and nutrition. While most people can carry their bags 18 holes without a problem, it is easy to lose focus on the back nine if you are not eating properly or start to get tired. This is something that the Ben Shear Junior Golf Academy works on all winter to make sure you are feeling your best on all 18 or even 36 holes. As great as the performance benefits are of the program, the social aspect is amazing too, as friends we compete hard and push each other to the next level.

John Felitto
My work with Ben and Ryan dramatically improved my fitness going into the 2015 season. I’ve seen huge gains in distance and flexibility, allowing me to more easily make swing changes and progress my game further. Ben and Ryan helped me reach some of my goals for the 2015 season, which included qualifying for my third State Open, second U.S. Junior Championship, and having a fifth AJGA Top-10 finish.

Jim Wentworth
I wanted to send my thanks for the 2014 winter program… Allyson is making fewer mental mistakes and hitting the ball with greater strength and improved distance and accuracy.  Her overall spring scores are 7-8 strokes better than last year, and she is also walking the courses with greater confidence, because she is in better shape… She has played in two IJGT events and finished 3rd and 2nd.

Your Winter Juniors program was really great, and the access to the pros that was brought in for weekly work was fantastic. Josh gained a great deal of strength, which translated into increased swing speed and distance. A great way to make progress outside of golf season!

Mitch Mayer
Jake had a terrific golf season. I know his training during last winter contributed significantly to his success. In addition to a great High School golf season, he represented New Jersey in the prestigious Pritsch Cup and won his match handily 6 and 4. He ended the summer with achieving “Player Of The Year” for the NJPGA Junior Program. Jake hopes he can keep progressing with his game and continue his strengthening program this winter with you and Ryan.
